Mila’s Favorite Viewpoints in Porto: Where I Go for the Best City Views

If there’s one thing I love about Porto, it’s that the city always rewards you for climbing a hill. Yes, your legs might complain a little, but the views at the top? Totally worth it.
Whenever I explore Porto, I’m always searching for the next perfect viewpoint. The kind of place where you can pause, breathe, and admire the colorful rooftops stretching down to the Douro River.
Here are a few of my favorite spots.
Jardins do Palácio de Cristal
This is one of my favorite peaceful corners of Porto. The gardens are full of winding paths, shady trees, and little spots where you can sit and just enjoy the view.
From here, you can see the Douro River slowly flowing past the city. Sometimes I grab a coffee and just sit for a while watching the boats go by.
Miradouro da Vitória
Now this one feels like a hidden secret.
Tucked away in the old town, Miradouro da Vitória gives you a stunning view over Porto’s rooftops and the famous Dom Luís I Bridge. I discovered it while wandering through the historic streets — one of those moments where you turn a corner and suddenly… wow.
Sunset here is especially magical.
Serra do Pilar
If you cross the Dom Luís I Bridge into Vila Nova de Gaia, you’ll find one of the best views of Porto.
I love coming here in the evening when the sky turns golden and the city lights slowly start to appear. It’s the kind of place where travelers and locals gather just to enjoy the moment.
And honestly, that’s what Porto does best.
My Tip: Wander and Climb
The best part about Porto is that you don’t always need a plan. Just wander through the streets, follow the hills, and eventually you’ll discover a viewpoint you didn’t even know existed.
